Εκτυπωτές καρτών

Ένας εκτυπωτής καρτών είναι ένας ηλεκτρονικός, επιτραπέζιος εκτυπωτής που χρησιμοποιείται για εκτύπωση πλαστικών καρτών στα πρότυπα που εσείς επιθυμείτε. Οι διαστάσεις των καρτών είναι συνήθως 85.60 × 53.98 mm και ονομάζονται ID-1 σύμφωνα με το ISO/IEC 7810. Αυτή η μορφοποίηση χρησιμοποιείται επίσης σε κάρτες EC, τηλεφωνικές κάρτες , διπλώματα οδήγησης στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση καθώς και κάρτες ιατρικής ασφάλισης. Η γνωστότερη της ονομασία είναι «τραπεζικές κάρτες». Οι εκτυπωτές καρτών ελέγχονται από κατάλληλους drivers ή μέσω μιας συγκεκριμένης γλώσσας προγραμματισμού. Γενικά, οι εκτυπωτές καρτών, σχεδιάζονται με λειτουργίες πλαστικοποίησης , striping και punching και χρησιμοποιούν επιτραπέζιο ή Web-based λογισμικό. Tα χαρακτηριστικά ενός εκτυπωτή καρτών, τον διαφοροποιούν από τους παραδοσιακούς εκτυπωτές μιας και οι κάρτες ΙD φτιάχνονται συνήθως από PVC και απαιτούν πλαστικοποίηση και punching. Οι διαφορετικοί εκτυπωτές μπορούν να κάνουν χρήση διαφορετικών καρτών ως προς το πάχος και τις διαστάσεις.
